Take a peek behind the curtain. For us, it's not just about the art on the stage; it's about encounters, sharing thoughts, exchanging ideas, and maybe even a little debate – always in good spirit, though.

MAMI captivated audiences in Avignon

The Avignon Festival (Festival d’Avignon) is one of the world’s most prestigious performing arts events. Being accepted into the festival’s main program is a major achievement. This year, Mario Banushi's work MAMI, our international co-production, was featured. The work charmed both audiences and critics in Avignon and was featured on the front pages of several French newspapers' culture sections.

In October, MAMI can be seen in Espoo: with performances held at &Louhi in the Espoo Cultural Centre from October 9 to 11.

&Audience

“I go to the theatre because it gives me new things to think about and lets me escape from my daily routine.”

In this series, we present the audience's perspectives on theatre. Esko Grekelä is interested in what the programme for autumn 2025 has to offer and has already secured tickets for both Vaimoni, Casanova and Arakhne.

&Fest - Learning to Disagree

Spring 2026: Our festival &Fest celebrates democracy, creates a safe space for disagreement, clears room for debate and encourages openness to perspectives different from our own.

At the heart of the programme are seven world-class international performances certain to spark discussion.

On Friday 19 September, more than 60 Finnish theatres shared videos on social media in which the stories of children from Gaza were read aloud. The aim of the campaign was to remind us of what truly matters: the killing of civilians must end, and no human being should ever again have to endure what the children of Gaza are experiencing.

Throughout the autumn, many of the participating theatres will host live readings of these texts. Our own event, Gaza calling Espoo – Join us to pick up, will take place on Saturday 15 November. The evening will be filled with art, discussions, stories and music. Proceeds from the readings will be directed to Gaza through Doctors Without Borders.

I really enjoyed the show, and the subtitle app was a huge help as someone who doesn't speak Finnish very well, thank you for offering that!Espoon teatteriaudience
