Our co-production MAMI impressed both audiences and critics at one of the world's most significant theatre festivals.

The Avignon Theatre Festival (Festival d'Avignon) is one of the most prestigious performing arts events. Held since 1947, the festival brings together the international elite of theatre, dance, and performance art, showcasing renowned directors and emerging artists. The event is known for its artistic boldness and its ability to redefine what contemporary theatre can be.

Being accepted to the main program at Avignon is a major achievement. This year, Mario Banushi's work MAMI, our international co-production, earned that place of honor. MAMI will be performed at &Louhi at the Espoo Cultural Centre from October 9 to 11.

MAMI charmed audiences and critics alike in Avignon. Our artistic director, Jussi Sorjanen and CEO Matilda von Weissenberg were there to witness the success of the production and meet director Mario Banushi.

“MAMI was one of the most visible works at the festival, partly because France’s leading newspapers, such as Le Monde and Libération, had featured it on the front pages of their culture sections. The work received rave reviews and was celebrated as one of the highlights of the festival,” Sorjanen says.

"We are one of MAMI's co-producers, in good company with the French Odéon Théâtre de l'Europe and the German Berliner Festspiele, among others," von Weissenberg rejoices.

MAMI is not the only international masterpiece we are bringing from the stages of Avignon to Espoo. Next spring's &Fest program will feature Carolina Bianchi's Cadela Força Trilogy, Chapter I: The Bride and The Goodnight Cinderella, and Khashabi Theatre's YES DADDY حاضر يا أبي, which have also been seen previously in Avignon.
