Nearly a quarter of Espoo residents speak a mother tongue other than Finnish, Swedish, or Sámi. This inspired the Espoon teatteriNaapurusto project, which is rooted in our promise to be a meeting place for people from different backgrounds. Our vision is to become a truly diverse theatre—not only in terms of our audiences but also our creators.
We are seeking artists who are interested in working with diverse individuals and communities through their own artistic practice. The work involves artistic collaboration with Espoo residents from immigrant and multicultural backgrounds, as well as leading art workshops within the Espoon teatteriNaapurusto project. The selected artists will work closely with Espoon teatteri Espoo Theatre’s audience outreach worker and artistic director.
The position is part-time and fixed-term, primarily from August 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026. Alternatively, a shorter working period is possible during either autumn 2025 or spring 2026. The work takes place mainly outside of Espoon teatteri’s own facilities in Espoo. One or more artists may be selected. Compensation is in accordance with the Finnish theatre sector’s collective agreement.
We expect you to have:
- Skills for working in a community art context
- Experience or education in performing arts
- Artistic vision
- Understanding of multicultural working methods
- Multilingualism: Arabic language skills are considered a strong asset. The working languages at Espoon teatteri Espoo Theatre are Finnish and English.
