Werewolf in therapy and other original performances

In spring 2025, we are thrilled to host four guest performances, each exploring complex societal themes through humor, surrealism, and emotional depth. Featuring artists from across Europe, these performances bring unique theatrical styles to the stage.

“All the works in our program are powerful creations by talented artists. Each one has a distinctive style, allowing us to offer our audience a rich variety of European performing arts. I hope each performance will bring meaning, new insights and joy to its viewers,” says Jussi Sorjanen, who began his role as artistic director this fall.

Lapis Lazuli by Euripides Laskaridis (6.-8.2.)

Lapis Lazuli is the latest work by Greek choreographer Euripides Laskaridis. This piece blends slapstick comedy and surrealism with elements inspired by 1920s horror films, performed by five dancers. Thematically, it draws inspiration from the gemstone lapis lazuli, known for its unpredictable reactions under pressure.

The production is an international co-production with &Espoo joining forces with for example Onassis Stegi (Greece) and Théâtre de la Ville (France) along with other renowned European festivals and organizations.

Straight Acting by Anssi Niemi (25.2.-8.3.)

In this solo performance, Anssi Niemi delivers a raw monologue that addresses internalized homophobia and the pressures of masculinity. Through humor and provocation, it examines stereotypes and the performative nature of gender roles.

She Was a Friend of Someone Else by Gosia Wdowik (11.-12.4.)

A poignant piece on abortion rights and activism in Poland, Gosia Wdowik’s performance encourages reflection on the personal toll of activism and the fragility of rights. This thought-provoking work considers the limits of individual resilience in the face of societal struggles.

Forever by Kulunka Teatro (7.-10.5.)

Returning to Espoo for the third time, the Spanish company Kulunka Teatro presents Forever, a moving mask-theater piece that explores family dynamics and lost dreams. This wordless performance uses cinematic techniques to reflect on the complexities of love and life, inviting viewers to reflect on their own aspirations.

All performances at &Louhi in the Espoo Cultural Center.
