BIASED 2.0

People tend to believe they think rationally and sensibly. And yet, systematic errors influence our thinking more often than we realise. These unconscious factors, or mind shortcuts, that drive our actions and impact how we relate to others, are called cognitive biases. The most well-known is confirmation bias that directs us to primarily notice things that augment our already held worldview.

BIASED 2.0 is an interactive performance that invites us to examine the tricks our mind plays. The audience pick a side and are simultaneously gently guided to observe how their own mind meanders.

The performance was originally devised by a collective of five artists. Matija Kezele from Croatia, Fred Nevché from France, and Tellervo Kalleinen, Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen and Ami Karvonen from Finland created the work as part of & Espoo theatre’s contribution to Centriphery (2018 -2022), a European Union funded Creative Europe collaborative project between nine partner organisations. Actors Niina Sillanpää and Yasmin Ahsanullah joined the production in the spring of 2022.
