Tiago Rodrigues

In 2024, Tiago Rodrigues directed his play Catarina and the Beauty of Killing Fascists (2023) for Tampere Theatre Festival’s main programme. An audience favourite, the production received rave reviews. Portuguese Rodrigues serves as the artistic director of Festival d’Avignon. Over the last decade, he has emerged as a leading light of European theatre. Rodrigues is renowned for his ability to transcend the separation between theatre and reality, and for challenging our perception of historical and social phenomena. His works Catarina and the Beauty of Killing Fascists, Hécuba, não Hécuba (2024), By Heart (2013), and La Distance (2025) are widely acknowledged as masterpieces that tour major festivals and Europe’s leading theatres. At heart, Rodrigues’ works are precise and intimate visions of the human condition.

The visiting performance of Rakastavaisten kuoro (Lovers' Chorus) is supported by Camões Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua Portugal.
