About
What others are saying
“I first read about Minna Craucher years ago and her tantalising character stayed with me. But I thought that she wasn’t stage material. She didn’t do anything societally noteworthy, quite the opposite. Why create a performance about a woman whose contemporaries overwhelmingly wanted her forgotten, for good. But Minna’s story didn’t leave me alone. It eluded definition. I realised it was precisely that complexity that drew me in. On the one hand, Minna was a stone-cold fraudster and an immoral criminal, but, on the other hand, she was a woman born into adversity who refused to accept her pre-destined lot. It is up to the audience to decide whether Minna was a hero, or an anti-hero.”Aino Pennanen
